MCKELVIE WILDER, MUSIC DIRECTOR, KEYBOARDIST
Mckelvie Wilder, originally from the Lowcountry of South Carolina, found the Upstate by way of Anderson University. Mckelvie was heavily involved in leading worship for the collegiate ministry at AU, and received a B.A. with an emphasis in vocal performance from Anderson in 1997. Since then he has served on staff as Director of Worship Arts in churches throughout the south and northeast, with his most recent church located just outside of the NYC area. He has also traveled abroad with music ministries in Korea, The Philippines, and Poland. If you frequent local community theaters, you may see Mckelvie leading the pit band for any number of shows. He is excited to be joining the staff at Lee Road UMC as Worship Director, and looks forward to continued growth of the Lee Road family as we live out a blended worship experience.
MARY BERRY, ORGANIST
Mary Berry has served as an organist and pianist for over 46 years, bringing a lifelong dedication to sacred music and worship. She served for 15 years at Attica Center Baptist Church in western New York, followed by 30 years at Hunt United Methodist Church in central Texas. She currently serves as organist/pianist at Lee Road United Methodist Church in Taylors, South Carolina. Throughout her years of ministry, she has provided music for regular worship services as well as weddings, funerals, and other special occasions, with a focus on music that offers comfort, reflection, and hope. She believes music is a meaningful way to honor life and provide peace during times of remembrance.
THE COLLECTIVE
The band of LRUMC, The Collective performs an eclectic mix of worship music each Sunday morning from contemporary to traditional pieces with an updated sound. The group is under the direction of Music Director Mckelvie Wilder, and is comprised of Alex Hoverath (Guitar and Vocals), Rachel Averell (Vocalist), Matthew McCreight (Lead Guitar), Mckelvie Wilder (keyboards), and a [currently a guest] drummer. THE NEW BEGINNINGS SINGERS
The choir of LRMC, New Beginnings Singers is comprised of a talented and experienced group of vocalists under the direction of Mckelvie Wilder. Current members include Joan Davis, Susan Yeargin, Pat Youngblood, Marsha Wilson, Chris Trabookis, Sandy Davis, Bob Stevens, and Marty Cook. They perform a variety of choral anthems, traditional beloved hymns, and other seasonal music. If you would like to join the choir, please contact Mckelvie.
