Prayer Teams

Ladies Tuesday Morning Prayer Group

Ladies Tuesday Morning Prayer Group has been meeting early morning at a local restaurant for devotion, prayer and fellowship for more than 10 years. This group was organized and led by Rhonda Gilliam for many years. She used the model of Lee Road saints who established a prayer group in the late 1970’s. The Prayer Group invites ladies in the community along with Lee Road ladies to meet at Denny’s on Wade Hampton Blvd on Tuesday mornings at 7:30.  Due to the coronavirus, we share concerns online. Contact information available from the church office.

Men’s Prayer and Sharing Group

The Men’s Prayer and Sharing Group was started by the Rev. Allan Long (1967-1973), the first full time Pastor at Lee Road UMC. The group came from a Lay Witness Program the church participated in to grow as followers of Jesus in 1972. They started several small groups, with the “Wednesday Morning Prayer Group” being one of them. In the beginning, the group met at 6:15 AM, had donuts, coffee, a devotion, and shared prayer concerns before a group prayer. They met so early so that members could go to work after the meeting. The members all had a “fish” lapel pin for their suits, to show everyone they were fishers of men. This small group, never more than 10 to 12 men at one time, has additions and contractions over the years as any small group will have. The “Men’s Prayer and Share” now meets every Wednesday in the Social Hall at 9:00AM. We share our concerns; share a cup of coffee, share devotion, and a circle prayer. All men are welcome to join us for our morning meetings.

Sunday Prayer Teams

A two-person Prayer Team is available every Sunday morning after the Traditional service at 11:00 a.m. and after the Connect Church service at 12:00 p.m.  You are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary for prayer.  Members of the prayer team handle all prayer requests with the upmost care and confidentially. Discover the power of praying together.
